REP 5.0 for the Laminar Piper PA-18 Super Cub is now available. This update is free for all current users. You can get it using the SkunkCrafts Updater or by re-downloading the full installer from the X-Plane store and reinstalling from scratch.

The Super Cub Gets REP 5.0
The Laminar Piper PA-18 Super Cub joins the growing family of aircraft running REP 5.0. This is a major milestone for one of X-Plane’s most beloved bush planes.
Since the very first release, REP has never faked anything. Every system — engine, electrical, oil, brakes — runs on a real physical model. Instruments don’t display scripted values. They read real data from the simulation. Therefore, what you see in the cockpit is always a consequence of what is actually happening inside the engine and the airframe.
REP 5.0 takes this further with a significantly improved per-cylinder engine model. CHT, EGT, compression, power output, vibration, and firing order all come from a refined per-cylinder simulation. Therefore, everything that depends on combustion — from instrument readings to engine sounds to wear — emerges naturally from the model itself, with no approximations and no shortcuts.
REP 5.0 also introduces an improved electrical and alternator model. This eliminates several long-standing quirks caused by X-Plane’s default electrical system. Therefore, battery behavior, voltage fluctuations during engine start, and alternator interaction all feel exactly as they should.
The Super Cub is a legendary bush plane, found in roles like backcountry flying, banner towing, and glider towing. REP supports several real-world engine options: the stock Lycoming O-320 (150 HP), the optional O-360 (180 HP), and the IO-390 (210 HP) for the King Cub mod by TDDesignWorks.
