We are happy to announce the release of the Reality Explansion Pack 5.0.2 for the Beechcraft Bonanza A36 by PAE Addons.

This update is a big step forward in performance, realism, and immersion. It also refines many details introduced with REP 5.0.

Smoother performance, lower hardware requirements

Version 5.0.2 significantly improves performance. The aircraft now runs much smoother and requires less powerful hardware than before.
Framerate is higher and more stable, even on older systems. Therefore, the overall flying experience feels more fluid and responsive.
We will continue optimizing performance further.

A more advanced vibration model

With REP 5.0, we introduced a much more accurate internal engine dynamics model. This new foundation allowed us to work deeply on vibrations, which are a key part of the real flying experience.

We now handle vibrations on two distinct levels:

  1. Physical and visual interaction
The vibration model applies forces directly to the aircraft, just like in the real airplane. This means vibrations affect flight physics, aircraft visuals, and cockpit elements.
Instrument needles now vibrate in response to the actual vibration level of the aircraft. In addition, and this is an old feature, their behavior also depends on instrument age and wear, making older and more worn instruments visibly less stable and more alive.
  2. Improved HeadShake integration
REP integrates more effectively with the free HeadShake plugin. Vibrations are now transmitted to the camera in a more realistic and detailed way.
This integration already existed before, but the effect is now far more convincing and refined.

More realistic propeller visuals

We fixed an animation issue and completely reworked the propeller disc effects while the propeller is rotating.
The result is a much more realistic visual representation, especially during engine operation at different RPM ranges.

Polishing and fixes

As expected after a major release like 5.0.0, some issues needed refinement. Most bugs were fixed with 5.0.1, and version 5.0.2 resolves the remaining ones while improving overall stability.

Changelog – REP 5.0.2

  • Improvement: Overall improvement of engine sounds
  • Improvement: Overall improvement of the HeadShake integration
  • Improvement: Overall improvement of the plane vibrations at low engine RPM
  • Improvement: Optimized 3D models and textures to ensure better performance, even on older systems
  • Improvement: Enhanced propeller visual effects
  • Improvement: Better flap and fuel pump sounds
  • Fix: The EGT, CHT and TIT temperatures were lower than expected when using the turbonormalized engine configuration
  • Fix: The GFC500 IAS mode was not working correctly

What’s next

The next step will be the release of REP 5.0.2 for all other REP-supported aircraft.
The update will initially be available on the beta channel, so users can test it early.

We will publish a dedicated post to notify everyone and go deeper into the new features and improvements coming to the rest of the REP fleet.

Availability

This update is free for all existing users.
You can download it using the SkunkCrafts Updater, or by re-downloading the full installation package from the X-Plane.org Store and reinstalling it from scratch.
