The Reality Expansion Pack (REP) transforms the Beechcraft Baron B58 for X-Plane into a deeper and far more realistic aircraft simulation.
REP replaces many of the default systems with custom logic, introducing realistic engine behavior, improved flight dynamics, advanced failures and a persistent aircraft state.
REP is fully compatible with X-Plane 12. It also makes the Carenado Baron B58 for X-Plane 11 fully compatible with X-Plane 12, allowing you to continue flying this aircraft in the latest simulator version.
Why pilots choose REP
REP is not just an add-on. It transforms the aircraft into a deeper simulation.
Instead of adding a few scripted effects, REP replaces large parts of the internal X-Plane systems with custom logic written in C++.
This allows the aircraft to simulate realistic engine behavior, persistent aircraft state, complex failures and accurate flight dynamics while remaining extremely light on FPS.
Every flight becomes part of a continuous experience: engines wear over time, the aircraft remembers its condition and proper procedures matter.
REP is designed to make the aircraft feel alive.
What REP adds to the Baron
Custom Engine Model
REP includes a fully custom engine simulation that replaces the default X-Plane engine model. The Continental IO-550 engines are simulated in detail, including fuel system, oil system, starter, temperatures and component wear.
REP supports both normally aspirated and turbo-normalized configurations modeled according to Tornado Alley Turbo specifications, allowing you to fly different engine setups realistically.
Custom Flight Dynamics
The flight dynamics have been tuned using real-world performance data and feedback from real Baron pilots involved in the beta testing.
The aircraft reaches correct takeoff, climb and cruise performance. Ground handling and taxi behavior have also been improved to better match the real aircraft.
Immersive Sound Environment
REP introduces a completely new sound environment to increase immersion.
Engines, wind, touchdown and cockpit sounds are reproduced in detail. The characteristic twin-engine droning sound appears when the propellers are not synchronized, just like in the real Baron.
Aircraft Systems & Failures
REP simulates many aircraft systems using real-world documentation and pilot experience. Electrical systems, landing gear, braking system and avionics follow realistic procedures.
Incorrect operation, excessive stress or poor engine management may trigger realistic failures and system damage.
Additional 3D Elements

REP adds several 3D elements to enhance the aircraft realism during ground operations.
These include tie-downs, wheel chocks, the engine preheater and other small details that make the aircraft feel alive on the ramp.
Integrated Pilot Tools

REP includes several integrated tools that help you operate the aircraft like a real pilot.
These include the maintenance hangar, weight and balance manager, interactive walkaround, in-flight kneeboard and other utilities designed to support realistic operations.
